If you’re driving down from nearby Cherry Grove or staying at a resort along the Grand Strand, just park in the public spaces on 17th Ave S, walk right out onto the sand, and look for the New Wave Watersports crew. Everything happens right here on the beach!

If you’re visiting from up north or out of state and just want to enjoy a thrilling ride on the ocean today, you’re in luck! Our banana boat rides are strictly first-come, first-served—no reservations required. Just walk down to our beach location behind Molly Darcy’s, sign up, and we’ll get your group out on the water. For parasailing flights, however, we highly recommend booking online in advance to secure your spot before you arrive.

Your adventure actually starts right from the shore! Because big parasail boats can’t safely pull up onto the sand, we use a custom ocean-going double banana boat to shuttle you through the surf line out to our Coast Guard-inspected parasailing vessel. It’s an incredibly fun, 2-in-1 experience because you get a mini banana boat ride included for free with every single parasail flight!

Expect to get splashed! Because you take our double banana boat to and from the main parasail boat, you’ll definitely get a little ocean spray coming through the North Myrtle Beach surf. We recommend wearing swimsuits, board shorts, or your favorite bikini. Once you’re in the air, your takeoff and landing happen directly on the boat deck, meaning you’ll stay dry in flight—unless you ask our Captain for a fun, optional toe-dip in the Atlantic!

Welcome to the Grand Strand! We have free public parking available right on 17th Avenue South in both the parallel and diagonal spots. Space can fill up quickly during peak summer days, so we recommend arriving a little early for your reservation. Once you park, you don’t need to visit an office—just walk straight through the beach access out onto the sand behind Molly Darcy’s.

Absolutely. Safety is our number one priority at New Wave Watersports. Every single one of our operators on both the banana boats and parasail boats holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license. Our main parasail operators are licensed Master Captains and veteran local watermen with years of experience navigating the local Atlantic waters, and our vessels undergo strict USCG inspections before every season.

We welcome people of all ages! Rather than a strict age limit, children must weigh at least 45 pounds to go out on either our banana boats or parasail flights. On the upper end, there isn’t a definitive maximum weight limit because it shifts daily depending on wind conditions and wind speed. Instead, physical capability is the best indicator: if you can comfortably get into and out of a standard picnic table without assistance, you should be completely good to go! Non-flying family members can also book an observer spot on the boat for $35 (maximum 6 people per boat, so please claim observer spots during your online booking).

Myrtle Beach summer weather often brings quick, passing coastal rain showers that clear up in 15 or 20 minutes. Our experienced captains constantly evaluate local sea and wind conditions. If it’s raining on the day of your scheduled flight, please give us a call at 843-361-3322 before you head out. If the weather forces a cancellation, we will work with your vacation schedule to rebook your flight or provide a refund.

Leave your phones and wet-bags on the beach! Our crew takes high-resolution, professional photos of your entire group’s adventure from the boat deck. When you return to shore, we’ll pull up the pictures on our iPads right at our beach setup so you can review them. If you love them, you can purchase the entire package on an SD card or have them uploaded directly to your phone so you can easily share your vacation memories with family back home.

Yes, we do! If you are traveling down with a large family group, a sports team, or a reunion of 15 or more people, we offer discounted group rates for our watersports activities. To secure a group rate, you just need to call us in advance to set up a reservation so we can allocate enough boats and time slots to keep your entire party together.
